Print & Pattern

I started to work on designing and printing patterns for textiles using large format digital printing as well as  heat transfer and sublimation print techniques. It allows for more detailed prints compared to screenprinting, although looking at this article over on stylebubble, high-end Hermès carrés are still printed using screenprinting and are incredibly detailed, as they use a screen for every colour (some require as much as 46 screens). I like the handmade feel and slight variations that can occur in a screenprinting (slightly frustrating though, if you don’t want them to happen on a particular design), but digital print opens up a lot more possibilities for the creation of artwork. Gradients, millions of colours, thin lines and subtle colour changes are not a problem as it’s pretty much like ‘printing on paper’. First designs below.
